1. What made you decide to become a Caregiver?

I’ve always had a desire to take care of others and in this field, there’s always a huge need. I figured it was perfect.

2. What does professionalism mean to you?

Keeping your personal life and work-life separate while maintaining a code of ethics and performing tasks to the best of my ability.

3. What does preparation mean to you in regards to your workday?

Making sure I have my gait belt and ID as well as making sure to eat. Getting the things that I need together when I get to work.

4. What does framework mean to you in the caregiver arena?

A team working together to hold everything in place, also an outline of responsibilities.

Purpose: For things to run smoothly.

5. How are you meeting the needs of others as a Caregiver?

Always putting their needs above your own and making sure they’re safe.

7. Preparation: How do you reduce risk to yourself and your client?

Proper footwear and clothing, setting up an area for proper transfers, always being a step ahead.

8. What does proper attire mean to you?

Scrubs good footwear, ID, gait belt, anything that’s a part of your uniform.

9. What does proper mobility mean to you?

Transferring property, paying attention to care plans.

10. What precautions do you take?

Universal always, hand washing, gloves, and following directions as listed.

11. What observations do you make when working?

Always paying attention to safety and cleanliness.

12. What does self-control mean to you?

Being in a stressful environment but remaining calm and collected.

13. What does it mean to follow a care plan?

To read the care plan and to follow it step by step whether it be transferring, feeding, or any other care.

Slow and concise but a huge part of communication is listening.

15. How do you maintain a proper environment?

By staying on task, keeping things clean, and remembering where I am at all times.

16. How do you maintain meeting the basic needs of your client?

Following the framework of their care plan in a timely manner.

17. What does patience mean to you in the framework of caregiving?

Things can get stressful but remember that it isn’t about you. Always being empathetic and letting the client give you cues. Paying attention.

18. How do you handle the unexpected?

Roll with it. There will always be something unexpected. Keep calm and troubleshoot.

19. What does proper documentation look like?

Document how each facility requires.

20. How do you review and improve?

Constantly reviewing continuing education and putting it into practice. Refining every day. Each day is a new start, constantly think of ways to make the client comfortable and safe.
